Evanston, Wyoming - September 4, 2024–– Prometheus Hyperscale, a pioneering developer of hyperscale data centers, today announced its official launch, marking a major advancement in the data center industry. The company also announced that Wyoming Hyperscale has been expanded from a 120MW project to a 1GW project and has merged with Prometheus Hyperscale, solidifying its leadership in sustainable data center solutions. Trenton Thornock, founder of Wyoming Hyperscale, has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer, and Trevor Neilson, a leading climate-tech CEO and energy transition investor, joins as President.

A New Standard in Data Center Design

Prometheus Hyperscale is setting a new standard in the industry by integrating cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices into its data center designs. The company is committed to delivering infrastructure that is both scalable and environmentally responsible.

  • Liquid Cooling Technology: At the core of Prometheus Hyperscale's innovation is its proprietary liquid cooling system, which dramatically outperforms traditional air cooling methods. This technology reduces facility energy consumption by up to 50% and eliminates water consumption, making our data centers more efficient and environmentally friendly.

  • Renewable Energy Integration: With a steadfast commitment to sustainability, Prometheus Hyperscale strives to power its data centers with 100% renewable energy through strategic partnerships with leading providers such as Oklo.   With Sam Altman as Chairman and Co-Founder & CEO Jacob DeWitte at the helm, Oklo is leading the development of small, advanced fission power plants that deliver clean, reliable, and affordable energy. By merging sustainability with advanced technology, we are setting a new standard for the future of accelerated computing.

  • Scalability and Reliability: Prometheus Hyperscale’s data centers are designed to perform independently of environmental conditions, ensuring consistent operation in diverse locations—from remote areas to urban centers. This flexibility allows for high efficiency and reliability in a wide range of environments.

With Trenton Thornock as CEO and Trevor Neilson as President, Prometheus Hyperscale is poised to lead the next generation of innovation in the data center industry.

"Prometheus Hyperscale is redefining data center infrastructure," said Trenton Thornock, CEO of Prometheus Hyperscale. "Our innovative approach, which combines cutting-edge technology with a commitment to sustainability, positions us at the forefront of the industry. I am excited to work alongside Trevor Neilson, whose leadership and vision will be instrumental as we scale our operations globally."

Evanston Flagship Project: A 1GW  Blueprint for the Future

Prometheus Hyperscale is not just another data center developer. Our flagship project in Evanston, Wyoming, is a testament to our commitment to leading by example. This facility is more than a data center; it is a blueprint for the future of digital infrastructure. With a strong focus on green energy, innovative design, and efficiency, we aim to set new standards for what hyperscale can and should be.

  • Strategic Location: The Evanston campus is strategically positioned to leverage Wyoming’s abundant renewable energy resources and favorable climate, which enhances the efficiency of our liquid cooling technology. Its location offers excellent long-haul fiber connectivity to major U.S. markets, making it an ideal site for a data center campus.

  • Green Energy and Innovation: The Evanston project underscores Prometheus Hyperscale’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. By integrating 100% renewable energy and advanced liquid cooling technology combined with heat reuse, this facility is designed to be one of the most efficient and environmentally friendly data centers in the world.  Importantly, less than 10% of the project’s power development plan is grid dependent (120MW of 1,220MW or 9.84%).

  • Setting New Standards: The Evanston facility is not just a project; it is a model for the future of hyperscale data centers. By combining cutting-edge technology, sustainable practices, and strategic location, Prometheus Hyperscale aims to set new industry standards for efficiency, reliability, and environmental stewardship.

Phase 1 of the Evanston project is already underway, with the first facilities expected to come online within the next 18 months.

Strategic Partnership with Oklo

Prometheus Hyperscale's commitment to renewable energy is further strengthened by its strategic partnership with Oklo, a leading company in advanced fission technology.

With Sam Altman as Chairman and Co-Founder & CEO Jacob DeWitte at the helm, Oklo is leading the development of small, advanced fission power plants that deliver clean, reliable, and affordable energy.

Through this partnership, Oklo will supply 100 megawatts of carbon-free power to Prometheus Hyperscale’s data centers. This collaboration ensures that Prometheus Hyperscale’s operations are ultimately powered entirely by clean energy, aligning with its goal of minimizing the environmental impact of its data centers.

"Sam Altman’s and Jacob Dewitte’s vision for a sustainable future through advanced energy solutions aligns perfectly with our mission at Prometheus Hyperscale," said Trenton Thornock. "Our partnership with Oklo not only provides us with a reliable, clean energy source but also positions us as a leader in sustainable data center operations."

A Robust Project Pipeline

Building on the success of the Evanston flagship project, Prometheus Hyperscale has a significant powered and existing long-haul fiber connected project pipeline that will be announced in the coming months. These projects will further establish Prometheus Hyperscale as a leader in the development of innovative, sustainable data center infrastructure across the globe.
